The BERLIN EXPRESS and 11 other ultra-large container vessels (ULCV) of the same type from Hapag-Lloyd are operated using dual fuel technology: oil and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas – Excess Natural Gas).
The mega vessel BERLIN EXPRESS belongs to the FE3 service line of THE Alliance (Hapag-Lloyd, ONE, HMM, Yang Ming) following the route: Ningbo – Xiamen – Kaohsiung – Yantian – Cai Mep (new) – Singapore – (Suez) – Rotterdam – Hamburg – Antwerp – Southampton – Algeciras – (Suez) – Singapore – Yantian – Hong Kong – Kaohsiung – Ningbo.
This series of 12 vessels are the largest vessels ever to fly the German flag, marking a technological turning point and emphasizing Hapag-Lloyd's direction towards neutralizing carbon emissions, opening a new era of clean energy sources in the future.
