After a period of rigorous research, analysis and appraisal, the Judging Council including experienced experts has announced the winners this season. In which, Gemalink Deep-sea Port, the only seaport project representing Vietnam, is one of two projects in the world honored in the category of Civil Marine Works. This is a great joy and honor for Gemalink Deep Sea Port when proudly naming Vietnam on the list of seaport construction projects that is highly appreciated globally.
Early 2021, Gemalink deep-sea port has officially welcomed the maiden vessel call. This port has newly joined in Gemadept's chain of 8 ports located along Vietnam from North to South, Gemalink plays strategic role in the Gemadept’s integrated Port-Logistics Ecosystem, and it is also an important leading transshipment center in Asia and over the world. At the same time, cost-and-time saving increases the competitive advantage of Vietnam domestic goods in the international market. As a modern deep-sea port project, possessing outstanding advantages compared to other ports in the same region, Gemalink contributes to promoting and improving the capacity of Vietnam's seaport infrastructure in the period of rapid global trade integration.
The fact of meeting all the rigorous standards of the contest, surpassing many other large-scale projects in order to be recognized and honored by ENR as the winner of the ENR Best Global Projects in 2021, has proved the outstanding quality of Gemalink deep-sea port both in term of efficiency and safety. This will be a solid foundation for Gemalink to continue to confidently implement the Phase 2 of the project which is expected to be put into operation from 2023 to meet the market demand and catch up with FTAs opportunities as well as the flow of cargo from the shifting of the global supply chain.
