On the morning of January 19, in Phu My town, Ba Ria -Vung Tau province, Gemalink officially put into operation and held a welcoming ceremony the first commercial ship of CMA-CGM with handling volume nearly 8,422 TEUs.
Currently, Gemalink has become the largest deep-water port in the South, capable of receiving 3 mother ships at the same time. Total investment capital of phase 1 is 330 million USD. The Port was invested by the two leading corporations in shipping and port operation - Gemadept (75%) and CMA-CGM (25%).
Gemalink is capable of receiving the world's largest ships up to 200,000 DWT. The port's capacity in phase 1 is 1.5 million TEU / year and the full phase is 2.4 million TEU / year. In phase 1, the Port has 800 m of main berth, ensuring to accommodate 2 mother ships at the same time and 230 m of feeders / barges, on an area of 33 hectares.
Gemalink is equipped with the most modern technology, with 6 STS cranes and 18 RTG cranes.
Gemalink Port is designed as a Smart Port (Smart Port), through the software system, all information and data during crane operation will be transmitted directly to the Port Operation Center, ensuring the monitoring each container position on the yard, through which the port operation becomes synchronous, efficient and safe.
Gemalink’s official operation will contribute to promoting the development of logistics centers, satellite ICD networks, adjacent warehouses, industrial clusters and ancillary services in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the South.
